Sophie Minikin, BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, Stage 4 Coach

Sophie has ridden since being a child and owned horses from the age of 12. She was an active member of the York & Ainsty North Pony Club and now sits on the committee, focusing on show jump team training. Sophie's pony club years culminated in achieving the Pony Club H Test (horse care) with honours. Sophie completed a BSc (HONS) Equine Science and Management degree at Bishop Burton College followed by an MSc in McTimoney Animal Manipulation. 

Sophie is a keen event rider having competed up to BE Intermediate/ CIC* on a self-produced horse. She regularly competes in a wide variety of disciplines including dressage, showjumping, showcross and combined training. She regularly competes in riding club teams and has produced many young horses over the years.

Sophie manages Thorndikes Lane Livery where alongside the current liveries, horses can also be taken in for schooling livery, holiday livery, sales livery and rehab livery. Sophie also works as a freelance coach for all ages and abilities whether they ride purely for pleasure or to progress their competition career. She regularly trains the local pony club and is also available to teach for other pony clubs, riding clubs and camps.

Being a McTimoney therapist, Sophie is regularly out and about treating a huge variety of horses. She travels throughout Yorkshire keeping clients horses in tip top condition enabling them to live and perform comfortably and to the best of their ability.
